Barbara Kuriger, MP for Taranaki-King Country is delighted that Waitomo District Council will receive $21,000 under the Youth Development Partnership Fund 2015.
“This investment will fund Waitomo District Council to support young people to develop event management skills, and develop and manage a Waitomo District Youth Citizenship Achievement Awards event.
“The young people who take the opportunities this funding makes available will build essential skills and confidence for their futures.
“National believes in supporting young Kiwis to reach their full potential,” Barbara Kuriger says.
Twenty-five city and district councils will benefit from this latest Youth Development Partnership funding, enabling Territorial Authorities and young people, aged 12 to 24, to work together to provide Youth Citizenship projects for young people.
“I thoroughly enjoy meeting and spending time with the young people we have here in Waitomo.
“Our young people are bright, energised and innovative, this funding makes it possible for them to be involved in meaningful community activities, and to influence local decision-making,” Kuriger says.
Since the launch of the Youth Development Partnership Fund in 2005, more than 50 city and district councils have been supported to work with and improve the outcomes for young people in their regions.
