National MP for Taranaki-King Country Barbara Kuriger welcomed news that Te Awamutu and Raglan Chambers of Commerce will receive $35,000 through the Youth Enterprise Fund.
“It is fantastic that $35,000 of the Youth Enterprise Fund has been awarded in our electorate,” said Mrs Kuriger.
“This investment will help support young people with established or identifiable skills in Te Awamutu and Raglan to set up their own business – giving young entrepreneurs the best chance at success.
“With this extra funding local young people will get hands-on experience in business, and develop financial literacy skills, life-skills, and leadership experience.
“There are many young people making positive contributions in our community here and across New Zealand. I hope this funding encourages other young people to showcase themselves and their peers within our community,” said Mrs Kuriger.
The Government Youth Enterprise Fund has made $2 Million available for organisations that support youth enterprise initiatives. In this latest round $905,000 has been allocated to support business enterprise initiatives. Another $835,000 was recently announced towards social enterprise initiatives, and technology related funding will be announced in the near future.
